AUTHOR

“A Música que toca Alma“

An ode to music — with all its freedom and its power to awaken every emotion — can the music touch the soul? In the case of Maestro José Duarte Loureiro, the answer is yes. Raquel Loureiro revisits the life and work of her father in a tribute where simple, essential words are infused with feeling. It is a look into the life of a man who allowed music to touch his soul and other souls — a man who lived for music and made music his life.

Through music, he gained the world, and the world gained from his music: a vast repertoire and a talent built over decades, crossing paths with Amália Rodrigues, Mariza, Simone de Oliveira, Herman José, Nicolau Breyner, Raul Solnado, Sacha Distel, Julio Iglesias, Gilbert Bécaud, Rickie May, and many others.

In December 2018, Raquel Loureiro invited us to discover her father’s life and work in a heartfelt tribute that also reveals something of her own journey. A soul touched by music may have departed, but the memory and legacy of José Duarte Loureiro, who passed away in December 2011, remain.
